Fallen Thoughts

a broken thing
edges ragged and battered
bits removed and tacked back on
shoved into corners for later
but when the light shines, it feels
when it cries, it rains
it believes this is how it should be
then deep inside itself
it implodes and shatters
floating all the pieces
weightless and waiting
slow and hard
finding each sliver
placing the shards
with great care
building with purpose
suddenly it all snaps into place
new corridors
places familiar and unknown
wholeness from the wreckage
delightful strangeness
invites songs and smiles
and long contented sighs
no regrets
just wishes
no aching voids
just self
