carefully unclasping fingers

releasing the messy heart to the floor

it thumps and beats against the cold

hands washed with tears are never completely clean

wholly bereft

nights are longest

without blessed slumber’s magic

beautiful morning

breaks windows

bathing the naked love

exposing bruises

to a new day’s air

What would you do?

defining crossroads

laid out before me

the choice between two

on pointed toes

at the tip of the metronome

weighing out wants

to fall to the left

steps play out a hard course

years of work

debts racked up high

for knowledge acquired

my being offering help to others

leaving hidden dreams of family

to haunt dusty corners

to fall to the right

plays out difficult steps

years of work

not a sure thing

dependent on the agreement of another

tears at night

silly arguments

bright smiles and laughter abound

one is for me

one is for us

an us that doesn’t quite exist

take a chance of a sure thing

jumping into hope

knowing that there can be a deep hurt at the bottom

I know what I chose

balancing on that point, staring into my futures

it scares me

I may be forced to take the second choice

what else to do?

What would you choose?

I ventured forth

into the sun’s path

looking for the moon

I found delights

bright, dark and something else

scattered across this room

Lifelong searching ceased

balance found in the swaying of the sea

waiting in my own home

basking in the calm

comfort soothing all the edges

till they gleam

a destination only found

when travelling

with my companion of ages

dearest goddess,

please help me.

don’t let those I love get lost in fear and pain.

guide them back to where I can reach them.

i hold my hands out to you, to them, to all.

let them feel my love through their skin

smell it in the scent of my tears

see it in the way my mouth forms words in silence

let them accept it and please, help them heal.

blessed be

let them and me be blessed be

bless them and me in three
